The Mater Terho Lamp is designed by the Finnish designer Maija Puoskari. Inspired by nature, Terho means ‘acorns’ in Finnish and simply refers to the organic and appealing shape of acorns found in nature. The warmth and beauty of natural linden wood combined with opal glass make it as contemporary as it is timeless. The wood is FSC certified from responsible European forestry and the glass is mouth-blown in Poland.
All lighting in the Mater Collection are made of materials that have sustainable elements from recycled aluminium to certified wood. Common for all our collections is that the light sources are the newest LED technology which is the most sustainable source of lighting we have today. The LED we use saves up to 85 percent energy compared to old energy sources and can last up to twenty years. It is Maters policy to conduct business in compliance with both national and international laws. Together with our core values we comply with internationally recognized standards. We have a zero tolerance towards corruption and are committed to work proactively to prevent bribes and eliminate facilitation payments.

The designs of Maija Puoskari are defined by her love and appreciation of the natural world and the simple life of her childhood.
Born in Tornio, a small town in northern Finland, Puoskari spent most of her childhood outdoors. Her passion for nature led her to train and work as a florist, which continued to inform her work as she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Ceramic and Glass design, followed by a Master of Arts in Applied Art and Design from Aalto University.
