Safari Chair

12 to 14 Weeks

The distinctive Quistgaard Safari Chair is one of Jens Quistgaard's most successful furniture designs and was designed in 1966. Many of Quistgaard's designs, he created 4500 different designs in his career, have been awarded numerous prizes and are part of the permanent collections at both the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Louvre in Paris. The Safari Chair is one of a kind and is today considered an international design classic. The inspiration comes from boats and this can be recognised in the detailing of the design.

The Safari Chair is entirely assembled without screws or fastenings. The tapered black-stained oak poles are fitted into the chromed metal frame and then the black leather upholstered backrest is inserted to hold all of the parts together in tension.
