Danish design brand Mater introduces the Legacy Sofa and Armchair by PEDERJESSEN, a premium lounge collection characterised by a sculptural solid oak frame and wide armrests.

Due to its unique design features, Legacy is interesting from every angle and is ideal as a freestanding piece of furniture. The Legacy series is available as a two-seat sofa and an armchair. “Legacy marks a milestone in Mater’s history as it completes our collection of small furniture such as side tables, rugs and lighting”, says Henrik Marstrand, founder and CEO of Mater.

With cushioning engineered from CMHR foam, a bent veneer frame for comfortable support, and ‘Crib 5’ ammability compliance, Legacy is suitable for both residential and commercial use. Legacy can be upholstered in Sørensen Royal Nubuck (made from the best European raw hides), or with 100 % un-dyed wool by Kvadrat produced without the use of chemicals. Both options allow for high breathability and amazing seating comfort.

PEDERJESSEN is a Danish design studio established in 2015 by Søren Pedersen and Lasse Jessen, both with a background as industrial design engineers from University of Southern Denmark. Within furniture and lighting they are known for having a holistic approach to product development, always looking to experiment with new technologies and materials. The main ambition is to design functional and aesthetically durable products – on the basis of a combined traditionally and contemporary approach. Sadly, Søren Pedersen passed away right before the launch after a sudden heart attack. The collection was given the name ‘Legacy’ to honour Søren and his work.

Mater was established in 2006 in Denmark by Henrik Marstrand, who had a vision to create iconic and beautiful design, based on an ethical business strategy. Through collaborations with an external network of established and fresh talent, Mater combines high-end furniture and lighting, constructed with methods that support people, local craft traditions and the environment.

The Legacy collection will be available across Cult Showrooms in Australia and New Zealand later in 2017.
