Held annually in Germany, IMM Cologne is an international furniture fair that showcases the latest global furniture and interior design trends for the coming season, inspiring year on year with the newest innovations.
From 14-20 January, Cologne became an epicentre of international furnishing and design, and here we provide a snapshot of the latest news and novelties seen during the fair from some of our favourite brands.
IMM Cologne was the first to see Fritz Hansen’s new identity, after their very recent rebrand. We saw new colours, new fabrics and a completely new era for the iconic Danish design brand. 'Republic of Fritz Hansen' has become 'Fritz Hansen', paying homage to its 147 year heritage yet looking forward. Showcased at the stand was a new textile - Christianshavn, four stunning new coloured Drop™ chairs by Arne Jacobsen and the recently launched N01 wooden chair by Nendo.
Softline revealed several pieces from their new furniture collection including the minimalistic Picolo armchair, the modular Cape sofa, and the Orlando Wood chair that has a contemporary, light aesthetic and a softly rounded back.
CARL HANSEN & SON//
Carl Hansen & Son presented the reintroduced Huntsman Chair by Børge Mogensen – to complement the recently launched Hunting Table by the same designer. The rugged elegance of the Huntsman Chair, which helped to define Mogensen’s distinctive style, works in a variety of spaces and interiors, as well as an attractive lounge chair in its own right.
The Panton One series by Verner Panton was designed in 1955 and reintroduced by Montana in 2003. Montana presented new variations of colour and material giving the classic design a fresh expression. The Panton One is now available in a paper string version and a new set of colours spanning from light to dark and from dusty to fresh. The frame comes in Beige, Black Red, Black, Silk Grey, Chrome and, as usual, in stainless steel, offering numerous colour combinations in true Montana style.
Novelties showcased at IMM Cologne are available to order from Cult showrooms.
